LOCATION This course will be taught in the classroom at our Wath-Upon-Dearne site.


DESCRIPTION The workshop will begin with background information about the hunter-gatherers and the first farmers, their diet from places such as Mesolithic Colonsay, their cooking methods and implements taking sites such the Sweet Track in Somerset as examples.

The information has been sourced from archaeological discoveries, for example the food Otzi the Iceman consumed prior to his death.


A cookery demonstration will take place using prehistoric recipes. You will get to sample the dishes cooked, as well baking your own prehistoric bread.

Copies of the recipes and ingredients from one of them will be provided to allow participants to continue their cooking later.
