Calculating FTEs & AAFTEs

FTEs

Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) is a unit of measure utilized to determine the number of full-time equivalent students during a semester. It is calculated as follows:

1. Divide the sum of the state-fundable student credit hours (SCH) from lower division
   courses by 15 to obtain the lower division (LD) FTEs. Credit hours generated by students classified as Certificate of Advanced Study are excluded.
2. Divide the sum of state fundable student credit hours (SCH) from upper division courses by 15 to obtain the upper division (UD) FTEs. Credit hours generated by students classified as Certificate of Advanced Study are excluded.
3. Divide the sum of state fundable student credit hours (SCH) from graduate courses to obtain the graduate FTE. Credit hours generated by students classified as Certificate of Advanced Study are excluded.
4. Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) FTEs are calculated by equating each full-time CAS student to one FTE and multiplying each part-time CAS student by .75.
5. The total FTE is the sum of the four values calculated in steps 1–4.

AAFTEs

Annual Average Full-Time Equivalent (AAFTE) is a unit of measure utilized to determine the number of full-time equivalent students during an academic year. To calculate AAFTE, take all of the FTEs generated using steps 1–4 and divide them by 2. (Source: SUNY Student Data File Manual June 2002).

Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) Degrees by Major

This chart provides 5 years (2011–12 through 2015–16) longitudinal data of bachelor’s degrees granted by undergraduate major. Each major lists the total number of degrees granted in that major (N) and the degrees granted in that major as a percentage of total bachelors degrees granted for the institution (%).

Graduate (Master’s & Certificates of Advanced Study) Degrees by Major

This chart provides 5 years (2011–12 through 2015–16) longitudinal data of master’s degrees and certificates of advanced study granted by graduate major. Each major lists the total number of degrees granted in that major (N) and the degrees granted in that major as a percentage of total graduate degrees granted for the institution (%).

• Master’s and CAS Degrees by Major

Federal financial aid regulations require the college to publish a broad range of consumer information. One requirement is for the college to publish information on student body diversity in the categories of gender and ethnicity of enrolled, full-time students who receive Federal Pell Grants.

• Fall Pell Recipients (2014–2019)

This table provides a snapshot of the last 5 years (2015–2019) longitudinal undergraduate retention/attrition data by category (e.g. Fall to Fall and Fall to Spring). It provides the retention/attrition rates for the total (overall) number of undergraduates, the full-time matriculated undergraduate students, the first-time (first year), and transfer students.

The following series of reports lists six-year graduation rates about SUNY Plattsburgh first-time, full-time matriculated cohorts. The data are disaggregated by race/ethnicity, gender, and financial aid types (Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and neither).
