'I absolutely love you!' Jim Carrey lavishes praise on Adele's Mask Halloween costume... as he returns the favour by dressing up as her roadie

She's the pop superstar with a wicked sense of humour who went all out as The Mask this Halloween.

And Adele's homage to Jim Carrey paid off - the zany comic has reached out to the star to heap praise on her costume.

The Someone Like You hitmaker celebrated the spookiest night of the year on Monday by dressing as the green-faced trickster Carey played in the 1994 blockbuster.

Unmasked! Adele has won some serious praise for her amazing transformation into The Mask for Halloween - from none other than Jim Carrey himself

She documented her inspired decision on Instagram - and Jim has repaid the favour by dressing up as one of her 'roadies'.

Posting a snap of him sporting comedy false teeth and laid-back clothes, he wrote: 'Hi Adele. It's Jim from the other side. Weird coincidence, I dressed up as one of your roadies for Halloween. I absolutely love you.'

Adele shared two hilarious snaps with fans earlier this week, including a close-up of her exaggerated features, featuring drawn-on eyebrows and painted lips.

The Hello hitmaker dramatically held a hand to her forehead - and was only recognisable thanks to her hand tattoo.

Another photo showed off the full outfit - which comprised suit trousers, a full length coat, polka-dot tie, braces and of course, a jaunty hat.

She captioned the expressive shots simply: 'Halloween 2016 / Dallas, TX'.

Her 20million followers flocked to express their admiration at the genius costume for fright night.

One fan wrote: 'My birthday is May 5th as well and I went as the mask this year too. I'm so happy!' while another added: 'Omg is amazing Queen'.

The Mask stars Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz, and won Jim a Golden Globe nomination.

Meanwhile Adele admitted  in a candid interview that she was 'off her face' drunk during production of her 2011 album 21.

She revealed she doesn't expect to ever achieve the same level of songwriting than with that album - which earned her critical acclaim, worldwide success and became the best-selling album of the 21st century.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the songstress revealed: 'I can see from an outsider’s perspective that I will never write songs as good as the ones that are on 21, but I’m not as indulgent as I was then, and I don’t have time to fall apart like I did then.

She continued: 'I was completely off my face writing that album, and a drunk tongue is an honest one. I would drink two bottles of wine, and I would chain-smoke.

Bare-faced beauty: Adele shared this fresh-faced snap on her Instagram

'Then I’d write the lyrics down and the next morning think, "F**k, that’s quite good." '

However, she explained her days of heavy drinking came to an abrupt end following the birth of her son Angelo in 2012, which is why she believes she may not match her previous success.

She explained that as well as not being able to cope with a hangover whilst caring for a four-year-old, her priorities had changed since becoming a mother.

Trick or treat? The Someone Like You singer dived headfirst into Halloween preparations
