So it is real! Harry Styles proves authenticity of his hilarious new inking after losing Late Late Show Tattoo Roulette

Harry Styles is renowned for his heavily inked skin.

Yet one of his tattoos has been brought into disrepute after he was inked on Thursday as a result of losing a game of Tattoo Roulette on The Late Late Show against his One Direction bandmates and host James Corden.

Many fans questioned the authenticity of the 21-year-old hitmaker's controversial inking, which read 'Late Late', although he has now proved it is the real deal by still flaunting the emblem days after the show while flying out of LAX on Sunday.

In the hilarious stunt on the show, if James Corden were to lose he would be forced to get 1D permanently marked onto his belly, and if one of the band, who also include Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, lost they would be inked with Late Late.

Five red boxes were lined up. One contained the word TATTOO and the other four said SAFE, and they each proceeded to pick one.

Harry, who is already covered in drawings and words, drew the figurative short straw and during the commercial break he was branded with the words in small text on his inner forearm.

Many fans were shocked by the move, with some questioning the authenticity of the inking.

The quirky star, who is perhaps the most sartorially experimental of the boys, was sporting a funky shearling waistcoat over a loose fitting white T-shirt.

He then added his favoured distressed skinny jeans, alongside a pair of suede ankle boots.

Despite his superstar status, Harry clearly doesn't feel the need to unload his luggage on an aide as he toted two large holdalls while strutting through the airport.

As Harry touched down in LA, figures revealed that he and his bandmates were authors of a number of record breaking Twitter posts in 2015.

Messages of love and gratitude shared by the boy band topped Twitter's charts this year, eclipsing President Barack Obama's celebration of the US Supreme Court's decision legalizing gay marriage.

One Direction members accounted for half of the 10 most recirculated tweets, including the three most popular.

All the One Direction tweets were either directed at bandmates or the group's fans. None are likely to be remembered for heralding pivotal moments in history.

The most retweeted post was from Harry in March.

He tweeted: 'All the love as always. H,' and was posted after Zayn Malik announced plans to leave the group. Styles boasts 26.3 million Twitter followers.

The band's other current and former members have amassed between 16.6 million and 23.7 million followers apiece.
