But Naomi wasn't ignoring the intimidating parts about joining such a beloved franchise.

'It is intimidating. It’s very exciting. And yes, having just come off the last series, where the world was blowing up over it.'

The over-the-top hype had worried about meeting everyone's sky-high expectations.

'Everything was Game of Thrones related. All the advertising on TV, every article — everyone’s jumping on that bandwagon. So, it is scary,' she explained

The Mulholland Drive talent said she hoped fans will find 'new and interesting' pieces of the show to love.

'Hopefully those fans come along and get to find something new and interesting in this world as well,' she said, continuing: 'I think they won’t be let down. It’s a great team of people they’ve put together.'

Just a month after HBO's Game of Thrones came to a close, filming has already gotten under way on the untitled spin-off series.

Filming has started off the coast of Northern Ireland, according to The Belfast Telegraph, with other sites being set up for filming, including Titanic Studios in Belfast.

The city of Belfast served as the main production hub for Game of Thrones throughout its eight-season run on HBO.

While very little is known about this new series, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin revealed in an Entertainment Weekly interview back in November that the show is set about 5,000 years before the events of his books and the flagship show.

'Westeros is a very different place,' Martin said in that interview. 'There’s no King’s Landing. There’s no Iron Throne.'

'There are no Targaryens — Valyria has hardly begun to rise yet with its dragons and the great empire that it built,' he added. 'We’re dealing with a different and older world and hopefully that will be part of the fun of the series.'

The Belfast Telegraph reports that filming has started in a secret location in Co Down and on the north coast last week, but it isn't known if any main cast members have arrived on the set just yet.

Watts stars in the lead role, who is described in a Variety report from October as, 'a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.'

The English beauty leads a cast that also includes Miranda Richardson, Jamie Campbell Bower, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Josh Whitehouse, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo.

It is not known how long it will take to complete production on the pilot episode, which was written by series creator Jane Goldman and will be directed by S.J. Clarkson.
