FX Series 'Skin' And NBC's Sleazy 'Coupling' Cancelled!
Summary: Two of the sleaziest TV shows to air this season were cancelled after
only a few episodes. The Parents Television Council (PTC) led a grassroots protest
against these sex-obsessed shows.
Thanks to the work of the Parents Television Council, two of the most sex-obsessed
shows on TV have been pulled after only a few episodes.
FX's "Skin" was billed as a Romeo and Juliet love story. The girl's
father ran a strip club and the boy's dad was a district attorney tasked with
prosecuting pornographers. The series gave the pornography industry the opportunity
to propagandize the public about "free speech," and to show scantily
clad strippers, but would have done little to expose the degrading nature of pornography.
"Coupling" featured the various mating rituals and sex talk of a group
of six friends. NBC's entertainment chief, Jeff Zucker, described "Coupling"
as "NBC's biggest mistake of the season." PTC contacted advertisers
asking them to cancel sponsorship of "Coupling."

Television Council.
