NARTH Challenges AMA To Correct Misinformation In Medical Encyclopedia
October 14, 2004 – Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, president of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) has challenged the American Medical Association to correct misinformation about homosexuality in the AMA’s Complete Medical Encyclopedia.
Dr. Nicolosi first contacted the AMA in April, 2004 and encouraged AMA President Nelson to correct a number of serious errors in the encyclopedia. Dr. Nelson responded to Nicolosi in May but failed to acknowledge the errors.
Dr. Nicolosi followed up in late September with a lengthy letter that described in greater detail all of the mistakes about homosexuality in the AMA publication.
In a press release issued on October 8, Dr. Nicolosi noted: “We urge Dr. Nelson to make every effort to correct the grave factual mistakes in the AMA’s Complete Medical Encyclopedia. Failure to do so would threaten the credibility of the AMA as a scientific organization.”
